From operatic damsels to musical theatre mavens, second generation native Washingtonian and soprano, Faith S. Snyderman’s multifaceted skill sets have long served her well. She enjoyed using them in Pittsburgh this past May as Dama and the cover for Lady Macbeth in Resonance Works’ production of Verdi’s Macbeth. Not only did she find it exciting to participate in the “bonus coda to [Resonance Works’] 10th anniversary season”, but was honored to aid in representing Resonance Works as one of two opera companies being highlighted within OPERA America’s annual international conference. This immediately followed her singing the dual role of Agnes Smith Lewis/Leah in the reprise performance of Geniza: Hidden Fragments this April by composer Arnold Saltzman, Rabbi and Cantor emeritus of the historic Adas Israel Congregation in Washington, DC.

Last season Ms. Snyderman made her debut as Mademoiselle Jouvenout in Adriana Lecouvreur with Opera Baltimore. Since her role debut as Margaret Johnson in Carnegie Mellon’s 2020 production of The Light in the Piazza, she returned to the “Steel City” as a 2022 Pittsburgh Festival Opera Fleischner Young Artist. While with PFO, she had the honor of being mentored by the esteemed Susanna Lemberskaya. In 2021, she was a young artist for the inaugural season of OperaFest Sewanee at the Sewanee Summer Music Festival.

Ms. Snyderman has been recognized by the Rochester City Newspaper [regarding her performance of Donna Anna in Eastman Opera Theatre’s Don Giovanni under the baton of Timothy Long] as having “fitting gravitas and an affecting vibrato.” Additional credits include Die Knusperhexe in Hänsel und Gretel, working with TONY Award winning composer Adam Guettel for the world premiere of the re-orchestrated version of The Light in the Piazza, Anna Maurrant in Street Scene and excerpts of Norma (Norma) and Lady Macbeth (Macbeth).

A frequent concert soloist, Ms. Snyderman has been featured with The American Spiritual Ensemble, The George Eastman Museum Concert Series and among others, OperaFest Sewanee at SSMF. There she sang the final movement of Strauss’ Four Last Songs and collaborated with Kathleen Kelly and Patrick Hansen on other concerts throughout the festival.

Ms. Snyderman holds degrees from West Virginia University (Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance, cum laude) the Eastman School of Music (Master of Music in Voice Performance and Literature), and post-graduate certificates from Carnegie Mellon University (Performer’s Certificate, Advanced Musical Studies Certificate in Music Entrepreneurship). She currently studies with Jennifer Aylmer.
